🧱 General Setup
Your essential guide to understanding and using PriceCal effectively.
Answer:
PriceCal is a print pricing and quotation system that helps you automate price calculations for all types of print products — from business cards and booklets to foamboards, packaging, and custom T-shirts.
It supports multiple calculation methods (by sheet, by sqft, by piece, by perimeter) and lets you manage complex price combinations with dynamic components, bulk discounts, and profit margins.
Answer:
SC stands for Source Calculator, and each SC tool is designed for a specific product type:
🧾 SC-Sheet – For flat products (e.g., flyers, cards).
📚 SC-Booklet – For multi-page books.
📐 SC-Area – For large-format products (e.g., banners, posters).
👕 SC-Item – For model-based items (e.g., T-shirts, mugs).
📦 SC-Packaging – For packaging boxes with 3D models.
💼 SC-Basic – For fixed-price products (e.g., sample kits).
📊 CSV – For uploading custom price tables.
🔗 API – For connecting with supplier systems like Excard or Expressprint.
Answer:
Each product in PriceCal is made up of components, such as Material, Printing Size, Printing Cost, Quantity, and optional Finishing or Services.
These components define how the product price is calculated.
Without components, the system wouldn’t know your production costs, size rules, or available options.
Answer:
A nesting component is a sub-component that only appears when its parent option is selected.
Example: Add Lamination as a nested component under 310gsm Art Card.
When the customer chooses that material, the lamination options will appear automatically.
💰 Pricing & Calculation
Answer:
Depending on your setup, PriceCal uses different calculation types:
By Sheet: (Total Sheets × Cost per Sheet) + Base Price
By SQFT: (Total Area × Cost per Sqft) + Base Price
By Absolute: (Total Quantity × Cost per Piece) + Base Price
By Perimeter: (Length × Cost per Unit Length) + Base Price
💡 You can mix these methods in one product — for example, print cost by SQFT and lamination by Perimeter.
Answer:
It’s the minimum total charge per order.
Even if the calculated price is lower, the system will use the minimum amount as the final price.
Example: If your calculated price is $8 but your minimum order amount is $10, the final price will be $10.
Answer:
Profit margins define markup percentages based on cost levels.
Example:
$0 – $25 → +130%
$25.01 – $50 → +105%
This ensures smaller orders earn higher profit, while larger jobs stay competitively priced.
💡 Tip: The more profit margin tiers you set, the smoother your pricing will scale.
Answer:
Bulk Discounts reduce the unit cost as quantity or area increases.
Example:
| Quantity | Discount | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 5 pcs and below | 0% | Small jobs |
| 10 pcs and below | 3% | Mid-size jobs |
| 11 pcs and above | 8% | Large orders |
You can create discounts based on Quantity, SQFT, or Perimeter, depending on your SC Tool.
